VANDALS STRIKE THE HISTORIC GARFIELD STREET
COURTS!!
Here's the story, in case you've not been to the Historic Courts this
first week of 2006: Just recently- Late Monday, January 1st, in fact, miscreants with no respect
and nothing better to do "tagged" the walls of the Historic
Courts with graffiti. Just that evening, on the way to the Courts
from Hollywood Boulevard, I noticed someone had tagged the Jersey
barriers on the ramp to A1A- and I wondered aloud why was it our Courts
hadn't been tagged yet. I guess it's just one of those things one
doesn't speak aloud because Tuesday daylight found ugly scrawls and
spray-bombings all over our walls. Tuesday evening, when I showed up,
most of it was still there- but to some unknown (to me) guys' credit,
he'd already started laying the first coat on the graffiti. I
commented in the Guest Book about it (thinking that it was the City) and
even added a comment in another Email to the them regarding the lights-
and promised to post yet another group of pics of our courts in their
newly defaced state.
So Wednesday, when I showed up with my trusty digital
cam and tripod to take the pics- what greeted me was a FRESHLY PAINTED C
Court wall and paint covering up all the graffiti on the walls and other
surfaces. Ok, so the wall of the garage needs one more coat to fully
cover the tags- but, C'mon, people... He'd done a GREAT JOB and
QUICKLY!! My hat's off to ya, man- watch out for the
glare off my head!
Thank You, unknown guy. You deserve all the credit we
can all give you- and a beer or two, even! Below are thumbnails of
pics that were going to be of graffiti-covered walls... Instead, at
least one sports a fresh new coat of paint! Way to go, DPW & Parks
& Rec- you got upstaged! Would you have reacted so quickly? Click on a thumbnail to view the full-size pic, hit
your back button or backspace key to return to this page.
As an afterthought.... by posting pic of their
"tags," I'd have given those graffiti-spraying vandals' more
exposure. They'd just have loved that! Hey, losers.... why not
just put up a web page?? |
